In September of 2004 American flags formed a solemn field of healing in Northglenn. More than 4,000 were displayed for over a week in honor of the heros who perished on September 11, 2001. The healing field was a grassroots community event. The event was about patriotism and healing and was the first fund raiser hosted by the 9-11 Memorial Committee to reach their goal to install a permanent 9-11 memorial. The memorial included a 300 pound piece of steel acquired from one of the World Trade Center towers and was located near E.B. Rains Memorial Park.
